Create a system.

In powerlifting, have systems for how you sleep, what you eat, warmup routine, the shoes you wear to train in, etc.

Having a system not only helps you keep it between the lines, but it also helps you figure out what's wrong if something goes wrong. For example, how wide was your stance or how were your feet angled for that squat session? How was your grip on that bench press? You get the idea. If you don't have a system, you never know what's going wrong.
