Let's say you start benching and your first couple sets feel like shit. Then your next one does too. Are you going to pack it up and go home? NO, you keep going. If you're at a meet, are you just going to stop hitting warmups? No, you're going to keep going. Have a shitty set? Fine, make the adjustments you need to make, then come back and smoke the next set.
Worst case scenario: put your best foot forward for that day. Do whatever you can to create some positive momentum for the next day.
