The Worst Thing You Can Do is Quit in Your Head

The Worst Thing You Can Do is Quit in Your Head

Stop deciding you'll fail before you even try

One of the worst things you can do as a lifter is convince yourself something isn't going to happen before you've even given yourself the chance.

This video was taken during my training cycle leading into the 2023 WPO Super Finals.

The plan that day was simple: work up to a max effort double. What started off as a rocky sessions ended up being one of my best training sessions of the prep.

But what most people don't know is that not long before this, I wasn't even sure I'd be able to compete because of an injury.

I could have spent every day wondering if I'd make it back. I could have assumed my best lifting was behind me.

Instead, I just kept showing up. One training session at a time, one adjustment at a time, one day at a time.

That prep ended with an 1,100-pound squat and my biggest WPO total to date.

Here's the lesson:

Don't waste time worrying about what might happen.

If you miss a set or training doesn't go as planned, fine. Adjust.

If you get hurt... Rehab. Train what you can. Keep moving forward.

You don't need to know exactly how everything will work out. You just need to keep putting yourself in position for it to work out.

Most people quit mentally long before their body ever gives out.

Don't be one of them.
